M. K. Morse Company Lean!

Benjamin Grimm, of MK Morse, sent an email saying “Thank you for making this video (FastCap Lean Tour). I have recently started helping to manage a factory production department. Despite the company having started our lean journey a few years ago, it seem like our area has stalled recently and is in need of a jump start. So when I say I was worried about how to proceed, that was an understatement. When I was introduced to your book 2 Second Lean I found the answer to the problem. I watched many of your videos before deciding to use the “Favorite Lean Improvements of 2014” to help redefine what the employees thought lean meant. I called a meeting with the entire department and asked them, “What does lean mean to you?” The responses I got were all negative, but that’s what I expected. They said that to them lean meant “losing my job”, “doing more set ups”, “lean is stupid”, “something we were forced into”, “a waste of time”, and “I don’t know”. So I gave them a very short summary about you and your company FastCap, and explained that the video would help them see what lean really means. They watched the video together in relative silence. When it ended, I asked, “What did you see in the video?”, the answers came with excitement and promise. “I saw organization”, “I saw hardly any waste”, “I saw people happy with their job” and the best one: “I saw what I want my workspace to look like!” So I challenged them to accomplish just that. The rest of the day was full of phenomenal improvement ideas from almost every team member. I can’t thank you enough for helping me kick start the employees and get them on the right track to lean. I’ve never seen them so excited for the fantastic changes. We started a morning meeting that has been very successful. We will be placing and order for Kaizen Foam tomorrow. In just one video, you and your employees have shattered the dam holding back the employees from knowing what lean is and embracing it. And I’m excited to be a part of this change. I know that our hole saw manufacturing process can only get better by following FastCap’s lead. My sincere thanks to you and your whole team at FastCap.”

Kaizen Foam Rocks!

Brian Sheldon, of Sheldon Woodworks, sent us this video saying, “I just want to say that I love this stuff. It’s both tedious and time consuming but because it only has to be done once, it Is worth it. I think it’s incredibly rewarding once you get a few drawers done with it. I attached a few photos, but I shot a few video clips before / after and I will post a video showing the improvement on youtube in the next week or so once I get the other chests done in my shop. It even works fairly well with router bits. Feels good to do a little spring cleaning!”
