  1. I received my new Kliss clamp XL as soon as it came out and put it right to work. The first door I worked on was a 3’0″ x 6’8″ x 1 3/4″ solid core door. Weighed a ton. I set up the door in the Kliss clamp and mounted my hinge mortising template, turned on my router and as soon as I started the door fell over an I had to catch it with my knees with the router running. Tried for a half hour to get the door to stand but the Kliss was no match for the weight of this door. As the door leaned over the plastic wedge would slide up making it slip further. I’m going to try screwing the Kliss to a board perpendicular to the door for stability.
Tried it next on a 3’0″ x 6’8″ x 1 3/8″ interior panel door. Worked perfectly. I’m sure it will continue to work well except for these ridiculously heavy doors.
My only other concern is the glue joint between the parts. Lots of stress there.

    • I’m so sorry the Kliss Clamp isn’t working as well as you would like! With that heavy of a door, there can be a lot of force against the slide. You are on the right track by trying to secure the Kliss Clamp as much as possible. Also, make sure the slide is very tight against the door for the best hold. The joints are very strong, the wood will splinter before the glue bond breaks. If it still isn’t working, I would suggest using two Kliss Clamps for the heavier doors. If it does break, or you aren’t satisfied by any means, we will gladly give you a refund. Please let me know if you have any other questions or concerns!
